Planet of the Apps, LINE, Immersive experience and more: mobile buzz of the week

The lines between digital, mobile, technology and apps are blurring in today’s world. We at Robosoft are keen followers of developments in this arena. Here’s a quick summary of what’s buzzing:

Planet of the Apps: Apple’s new initiative

PLANET of the APPSSource (Apple)

Apple is launching its first television reality show called, “Planet of the Apps“, the filming for which is expected to begin later this year in Los Angeles. Apple’s involvement goes beyond just lending its name. The company has already begun accepting applications for the show. The initiative will help developers secure fund for their winning app idea, app visibility in the app store and also a golden chance to seek mentorship from some of the experts in tech and entertainment industry.

LINE’s success: what developers can learn

Ever since 2013, LINE has ruled the top spot on global non-gaming revenue rankings. So, what’s the secret to its success? Much of its success can be attributed to its deft user acquisition strategies such as localized stickers for each country and culture, deeper integration with its services, location-specific app features, and others. App Annie has done an in-depth analysis to point out facts that make LINE Corporation so successful globally.

Moving towards the era of immersion

Apps, movies, games or anything else that provides an immersive experience to its users is a huge hit right now. Pokemon Go is the best example of that. Then there’s also immersive theater, real-life immersive games, alternate reality games, and VR. These new forms of technology are slowly changing the way we play games and tell stories. The recent popularity of Pokemon Go has also shown that users are ready for location-based marketing. Very soon we might live in a world that’s a combination of all these.

Twitter reveals most user emojis

Marking the World Emoji Day held annually on July 17, Twitter released the 10 most tweeted emojis on its platform globally from mid-2015 to mid-2016. According to Twitter, the “face with tears of joy” is the most tweeted emoji followed by smiling face with heart eyes and a weeping emoji. It is interesting to note that despite the availability of a variety of emojis we are still using the ones that we started with long back.
